Britain's Eurovision 2004 Entry

After last year's Gemini desaster ("Nil Points"), the british are approaching this year's pre-selection with a bit more structure. A whole bandwagon is touring several TV stations (TOTP), clubs and other venues to promote the contestants and build up to the grand domestic final.

The BBC has -like every year- its own Eurovision website. In true 1966 style the competition was named "Making your Mind up" (from the last winning UK song by Bucks Fizz). So does this mean that we'll hear about 1981 more often ? It probably does.

I'm just surprised this seems to be taken so seriously here in the UK. It appears some music pros seem to bear a grudge. I always thought that this is the job of the Germans. :-D

Nope, I do not like that kind of music. At the moment I enjoy music like 2raumwohnung, Kid Alex, Maximilian Hecker, Röyksopp and things like that.

tell me stefan (i think you know them) do you like the beginners?

Sebastian, I have seen a little bit of this Stefan Raab casting show. Some of this guys were really good singers, but I can't support such kind of "reproduction-casting-thing"! That's a priori bull-shit!
So, listen to good self-made music. Your big brother is right! But, there will be a day, you will wake up, you will chuck away your crappy CDs, and you will listen to really good music :-). That's the way it works.
Keep clean, Stefan.

because i wasnt really sure which artists take place at the german pre selections i looked them up. this might be quiet interesting to you as well michael cause you might know some of them....

-Sabrina Setlur
-Wonderwall
-Beginner
-Laith Al-Deen
-Scooter
-Overground
-Mia
-Patrick Nuo
-WestBam
-Tina Frank

i just wonder what westbam will produce on stage...??? will they bang their heads to the beat with headphones on??? the worst thing that could happen would be overground at the grand prix (to explain to all islanders that post here who overground is:the bands name "overground" is that bad becasue the band was born from a tv show called "popstars: the duel"... its a cheap try to copy the principe of pop idol ,which is already bad, with the addition of the fact that two bands fight agaisnt each other and only one will be able to sell their records in the end...).

my favorite grand prix candidates would be the beginner... the beginner are an german hip hop band which were very famous in the past and which got up with some good new songs in the last time... i think hip hop would bring some fresh air in this contest... although its dying again... =(

killing me softly is a very good example i like it... but its a cover version i mean the fugees version??? You wrote: it took stefan some convicing too... you see you cooked him so long that he gave in... something that wont happen to me ^^

no to be honest i got to say that the kind of music i hear gets more and more back in the 70- 80 its right that most of those songs artists inspire great artists today and so their music is good as well...

Sebastian,

I've never punished you for only knowing cover songs and not the originals.... I just still hope and pray that one day you mgiht wake up to real music (like Stefan and me :-D - although Stefan took some convincing too).

Anyroad - I remember when The Fugees did 'Killing me softly' and I heard someone saying that she heard a weird version of it on the radio. "Eh, I think that was the original by Roberta Flack, my dear"... now *that's* ridiculous !

Hi Stefan you may remember me from Michaels and Sallys wedding iam Michaels younger brother Sebastian....

I dont know iam not really into this song and the band MIA. I would prefer if one of the ssdsgps candidates would take part at the grand prix i mean this guy from TV TOTAL ( a german comedy show on television moderated by Stefan Raab who took place at the grand prix as well some years ago.... he started a contest in his show where people were able to sing in a casting to finally sing in the german preselection for the grand prix the contest was called ssdsgps if you translate this short form it would mean Stefan searches the super grand prix star). this guy ( i unfortunately dont know his name) doesnt sing bad he only tries to sing too good sometimes and that sounds terrible... it would be very funny to have someone in the grand prix who has got something to do with comedy

MIA might be a good band but i dont like their style you might wanna punish me for this statement like my brother punishing me for prefering some of those cover versions from old songs BUT YOU WONT GET ME DOWN =)

I can recommend to all the readers one of the songs taking part at the Germans' pre-selection. It's by a band from Berlin called MIA. The song is called "Hungriges Herz". It's really great!
Bye, S.
